Hearts, teardrops, stars and ice cream cones. Murukku presses, rosette irons, egg beaters and serrated cutters. Sound like the usual stuff you can find at any bakery? Well, not exactly for these are handmade by Mohd Yusof Abas, a copper craftsman in Kampung Pinang, Taiping.

“I started making cookie cutters and cake moulds at 16. My first order was from the teachers of Asam Kumbang School. They used it in the school’s cooking class,” said Yusof, now 73.
