THE Perak Indian Newspaper Distributors Association (Pinda) celebrated Malaysia Day with a sumptuous banana leaf rice meal.

About 1,000 vendors, customers and supporters of the newspaper industry were treated to the lunch held at the association’s premises on Jalan Chuah Cheng Bok in Ipoh on Wednesday.

Pinda chairman P. Karthikesan said it was the association’s way of thanking the people.

“We really value their support.

“In fact, this is an annual event, which we hold each Malaysia Day,” he said.

Earlier, Karthikesan and his committee members performed special thanksgiving prayers.

“We want to thank God for the peace and unity in our country and to pray for his continuous blessings,” he said.

Among the invited guests were state MIC chief Datuk V. Elango and Youth chief M. Veeran as well as other party leaders including Datuk S. Veerasingam, Datuk G. Rajoo and Datuk N. Marimuthu.
