THE enticing aroma of rendang ayam merah, nasi Arab and steamed fish in fish sauce (nampla) wafted through the ballroom of G Hotel Gurney in Penang, when celebrity chef Datuk Ismail Ahmad demonstrated his cooking skills in season two of Pensonic’s ‘Chef’s Like’ cooking show.
Some 150 participants attended the cooking demonstration using Pensonic appliances.
The show, which kicked off in Kuala Lumpur early August, continued in Kota Baru, Malacca and Kuching before ending in Penang.
The witty chef, better known as Chef Ismail, cracked jokes with the participants while showing off his cooking skills.
“Cooking is an art and it should be done with love. Cooking can also bond and bring a family together.
“I cook with love and when one cooks with love, surely the dishes will turn out simply well,” he told his audience at the hotel here recently.
Pensonic executive director Nelson Chew said the programme was back after a successful season last year and it may become an annual event.
“There are also attractive Pensonic appliances up for grabs for lucky winners who participated in the show.
“Chef Ismail is a great chef who will show you how to make these mouth-watering dishes through simple steps and also show you how enjoyable cooking is,” he said.
The company’s appliances include mixers, inductions cookers, steamers and breadmakers, among others.
Chef Ismail is a well-known Malaysian food ambassador. He is often featured in both local and foreign cooking shows.
