A SEPTUAGENARIAN, who needs monthly medical attention for her heart disease, is thankful to receive financial aid from the Penang MCA Medical Aid Fund.
Ong Phaik Har, 72, said she needed regular check-ups as she was suffering from heart complications.
“I have to see a doctor every month, sometimes more than once each month,” said Phaik Har, adding that the RM500 she received would definitely ease her burden.
Another recipient Ong Poh Ee, 62, said the aid would help cut down on her expenses.
“I have thyroid and was recently diagnosed with diabetes. This money will go towards buying necessary medicine,” she said.
Tanjong MCA division chief Datuk Dr Loh Hock Hun, who is also the medical aid fund chairman, presented aid worth RM4,300 to 13 recipients at the Penang MCA headquarters on Thursday.
“We distribute the medical aid four times a year. This is our third time this year.
“We want to appeal to those with medical issues and who need help to come to us. The fund is set up for this purpose,” he said, adding that the next distribution would be in October.
Those who wish to apply for the aid can do so at the Penang MCA headquarters in Transfer Road.
“They must bring letters from their doctors to support their application.
“If they require surgery or further treatment, we will refer them to our main headquarters in Kuala Lumpur as they have a bigger fund,” Dr Loh said.
Also present was Tanjong MCA divisionsecretary and MCA Medical Aid Fund secretary Datuk Lim Gim Soon.
