Motherless pups rescued from the streets

MDDB is holding an adoption drive at Jaya One, Jalan 13/6, Petaling Jaya from 11am to 6pm.

PUPPIES, puppies and more puppies will be awaiting their new human families and homes at canine welfare project Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better’s (MDDB) adoption drive tomorrow.

MDDB adoption coordinator Christine Lai said several litters of motherless street puppies had been rescued the past one month.

“They are all ready for adoption now and we have to rehome them before we rescue more,’’ said Christine.

The adoption drive will be held at Jaya One, Jalan 13/6, Petaling Jaya from 11am to 6pm.

The adoption drive will be held at the space behind the Cosway and 7Eleven outlets.

Lai said most of the puppies were found in crowded and high-traffic areas without their mothers.

“We suspect the mothers have been caught by the dog catchers,’’ said Lai.

Apart from the young litters, two four-month-old puppies named Cookie and Frost will also be up for adoption at the drive.

Both the puppies were adopted from MDDB when they were a month old and were returned recently.

“We commend the family for returning the puppies to us instead of dumping them elsewhere but at the same time wish that they did not give up on their pets that easily,’’ said Lai.

Those wanting to contribute in cash and kind to MDDB could also do so at the adoption drive.

“We require detergent and bleach as well as funds to buy a new heavy-duty washing machine to wash the dozens of towels we use daily,’’ said Lai.

She added that MDDB would also be happy to accept used washing machines.
