SIBU: Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) requires at least RM600,000 to organise the annual Borneo Cultural Festival from July 30 to Aug 8.

“We require a large funding annually for the BCF. A large part of the funds is from the corporate sector which donates voluntarily as part of corporate social responsibility,” chairman Datuk Tiong Thai King said after receiving a donation of RM5,000 from ENE (East Malaysia) Sdn Bhd for the BCF.

Tiong added that the council wrote to companies every year seeking financial assistance.

Suy Kok Kik, the state manager of ENE which operates Magnum 4D, thanked the council for inviting the company to be one of the sponsors.

“We have been sponsoring the BCF since its inception many years ago. We are not just a profit-oriented company as we also want to give back to the society,” he added.
