PUBLIC relations practitioners can gain insight into media relations from veteran journalist M. Krishnamoorthy at a two-day workshop titled Facing the Media.
Participants will learn about the subject through activities like role playing, mock press conferences, writing press releases and video clips.
A participant of an earlier workshop said it provided an excellent platform for the sharing of minds and methodologies.
“We discovered that different approaches are needed to bring about the required resolution,” said chief strategist and GRA Communications founder Ghazalie Abdullah.
Petrosains PR and Communications head Azura Daud said, “I have learnt many new things and discovered new perspectives on how things are done.”
Krishnamoorthy said if a company’s media release did not interest the editor, the story may not get published.
“News-breaking press releases should tell an exciting and interesting story,” said Krishnamoorthy, who is a former journalist with The Star and has been in the media business for 35 years.
He is currently freelancing for international television stations and the local media.
Krishnamoorthy is also a certified HRDF trainer and has taught part-time in several private universities and colleges.
The workshop will be on July 2 and 3.
