NINE participants had to race against time to complete three different missions at three separate locations around George Town to test their reflexes and agility.
The three sites these adrenaline junkies had to be at were the Occupy Beach Street, Penang Time Tunnel Museum and Fort Cornwallis. They were accompanied by six hosts during the Code Runner event which was organised by Code TV.
During the challenge, the nine participants were divided into three groups Yellow, Red and Blue with three members in each team. They were required to ride a four-wheeled bicycle and try to snatch as many ‘green cloth’ as possible within a time limit from their rivals.
In the second challenge, they had to spot several items at the Penang Time Tunnel Museum such as the cigarette held by a British soldier, a statue of an Indian labourer with a wristwatch, and a pair of Rayban sunglasses on the opium-smoking Chinese model.
The stamina of all the participants was tested to the limit in the last and final round in a three-legged race.
Code TV director Jimmy Tan said the company would produce a total of 12 episodes from the Code Runner event held every weekend for the next four months.
“The age of the participants is between 18 and 21. A grand prize of RM5,000 will be given to the winner during the final,” he said yesterday.
Yellow team member Chong Yeu May, 18, said the event was like the popular Korean variety show, The Running Man.
“It’s a good exposure for me as a Mass Communication diploma student,” she added.
