MUSIC fans will take a trip down memory lane during the Jammin Senzation Conservatory of Performing Arts and Music’s charity concert on July 7 in Penang.
Themed ‘Fame - Tribute to the Legends’, the concert will be held at Dewan Sri Pinang from 6pm to 9pm to raise funds for the Children’s Protection Society.
Jammin’ Senzation principal and director Jasmin Khor said the concert would pay tribute to famous artistes like Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Bruno Mars, Maroon 5, Taylor Swift and many more.
“The concert will be divided into three sessions.
“The 6pm to 7pm show will see performers belting out songs from the 60s, 70s and 80s.
“After that, students from my conservatory will perform music and dance numbers from ‘Snow White’, ‘Beauty and the Beast’, ‘Lion King’ and many more.
“Current pop songs will be the focus in the last session from 8pm to 9pm,” she said at a press conference in Komtar recently.
Children’s Protection Society social worker Elizabeth Julius said that currently, they were caring for 33 underprivileged children.
“It costs us about RM30,000 per month to run the centre,” she said, adding that there were 14 staff members working at the centre.
State Welfare, Caring Society and Environment Committee chairman Phee Boon Poh urged the public to support the concert.
“We hope to raise at least RM30,000 which is a month’s operating expenses for the society,” he said.
Tickets for the concert will be priced at RM15, RM30, RM50, RM100 and can be purchased on the day of the concert at the Dewan Sri Pinang or at the Jammin’ Senzation headquarters at 4-M, Jalan Masjid Negeri.
Jammin’ Senzation has raised over RM330,000 for charities like Penang Down Syndrome Association, National Cancer Society, St Nicholas Home Penang, Children’s Protection Society, Shammah Home, Shan Children’s Home, Bold Association For Children With Special Needs, and The Cerebral Palsy (Spastic) Children’s Association of Penang.
