Chanting: The priestesses performing a ritual to appease the spirits of Mount Kinabalu at Kampung Bantayan at the mountain’s foothills.
KOTA KINABALU: Under overcast skies, 10 tantagas or ethnic Lotud priestesses chanted age old prayers as they sprinkled grains of rice on the ground in their rites to appease the spirits of Mount Kinabalu.
The rice was an offering to the mountain’s spirits during the tomabor ceremony at Kampung Bantayan in Tamparuli at the foothills of Mount Kinabalu.
