6D movie thrills spill into town

Fun ride for four: Cordero (right) and staff member Cindy Prouchandy watching one of the shows at the motion theatre in Gurney Paragon Mall, Penang.

WATCHING a movie in 3D is con-sidered a norm nowadays. How about an extreme ride with 6D features?

Head over to Senoptium’s motion theatre at Gurney Paragon Mall where there are four seats that can tilt sideways and even vibrate as if being jolted by a tremor.

There are 13 different shows of various genres such as adventure, horror, racing and military, each lasting about eight minutes.

Penang branch manager Bianca Cordero said besides the three-dimensional imagery, viewers could also experience movement and environmental effects like wind, snow and bubbles in tune with what happens on screen.

“I believe we are the only one that offers 6D features in Penang.

“Patrons can pick their shows on the spot.

“It’s fun. One can try out our mo-vies like ‘Wall of China’, ‘Air Fighter’ and ‘Snow Ride’.

“They all come with 3D high-resolution projection,” she said when met at the theatre located at Level 7 of the mall on Friday.

Cordero said besides the motion theatre, the company also placed an inflatable ‘Pirate Ship’ playland at Straits Quay.

Set up in 2011, the company also has two more outlets in Klang Valley with another one coming up at IOI City Mall in Putrajaya.

She said the existing outlets were at Berjaya Times Square and The Main Place Mall in Subang Jaya.

The outlet at Berjaya Times Square has 5D Orion Simulator, Laser Hunter (a 3D shooting game on large screen), a bull simulator and a flight simulator while The Main Place Mall houses a 6D cinema.

“Our latest outlet in Putrajaya will house a mini rider, a 5D Orion Simulator, Fly Motion and a 6D Cinema.

“We hope more people will join us for the fun of it,” she said.

Meanwhile, Cordero said they would give out 2,000 passes worth RM38,000 to The Star’s e-Paper subscribers.

Each pass is entitled to a ride at any of the five outlets in Klang Valley and Penang and the redemption period will end in October.

Those who subscribe to a month of e-Paper at RM30 will receive two free passes.
