AS PART of its corporate social responsibility efforts, UEM Sunrise Bhd extended educational aid to the children of Shelter 1 in Petaling Jaya.
A total of RM31,000 was donated to the 21 children, seven girls and 14 boys aged from three to 13 years old, to help defray the costs of their tuition fees.
Shelter Home For Children general manager Cheok Hoong Poh said, “This donation will definitely help the children’s education. They need some help and we will use the money to get more tuition teachers, invest in educational programmes such as online teaching courses as well as books and other study materials.”
“CSR at UEM Sunrise is categorised into two main pillars — education enhancement and community development.
“Education enhancement is based on a firm belief that education is a fundamental human right and must be extended to every child regardless of gender, race, religion or economic status.
“This is the second year that UEM Sunrise has extended its support to the Shelter Home for Children and it is our hope that the contribution will go a long way in assisting these children,” said UEM representative Nik Surina Suria.
At the event, representatives from UEM Sunrise also brought cheer to the children with performances by Cha Cha The Clown.
