Nabbed: AADK personnel escorting a youth into a car during the raid at a karaoke outlet in Prima Gombak.

EIGHT youths were detained after testing positive for drugs during a raid on entertainment outlets in Prima Gombak last Friday.

The joint raid, with 30 personnel from the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK), Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) Special Team and the police, raided three karaoke outlets and a cybercafe.

This was the second joint operation headed by AADK and MPS.

MPS special team chief Paramsivam Chelliah said the council’s enforcement team joined the raid to check on entertainment outlets operating after 2am or breaking the council by-laws.

“Another three joint raids will be conducted between now and December in various zones.

“I would advise youths not to hang out after 1am. Parents should monitor their children’s wherebouts at all times.

“Two months ago, we nabbed several youths who were caught sniffing glue in Taman Sri Gombak.

“Our hands are tied and we were unable to take any action but parents could monitor their children and teach them to avoid social ills such as this,” Paramsivam said.
