Precious collection: Lew with a human figure made of ancient coins.

THE Phor Tay Private High School in Penang will celebrate its 75th anniversary with a three-day event — the Ancient Bodhi Path Exhibition — to be held from June 26 to 28.

The event is sponsored by Lew Yong Meng, a member of the school’s board of directors.

It is to promote the virtue of filial piety, and at the same time raise funds for the school.

The exhibition will see the display of about 100 ancient Buddha statues, relics and antiques from Lew’s private collection.

Lew will also donate 500 Buddha statues and 500 Luang Pu Thuat statues to those who donate RM100 each.

The event will also include chanting and offering ceremonies, and a symbolic feet-washing ceremony.

Those interested can contact the school at 04-2271469, Lew at 012-4051328 or school headmaster Lye Voon Seong at 016-4228171.
