SOME 1,200 teachers and others in the education sector spent a memorable evening at Alora Hotel in Alor Setar in conjunction with the National Teachers’ Day celebration.
The highlight of the event was the launching of Kedah e-Tutor mobile app to benefit some 252,000 students in Kedah.
State exco member Datuk Tajul Urus Mat Zain, representing Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir, went on stage to launch the app with Education Minister II Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh, Deputy Education Minister Datuk Mary Yap and Deputy Education Minister II P. Kamalanathan.
The Star Education columnist Sunny Yee, who is the chief content provider, said the app for Android smartphones was a collaboration between the Kedah government and TH3, an app development company.
“Each student was given an individual log-in and password to browse through the app’s contents.
“We have more than 80 subjects and 4,000 videos to cater to the students from Year Four to Form Five,” he said when met at the dinner on Friday.
The night also saw 28 recipients walking away with awards given specially to mark Teachers’ Day.
The attendees were also entertained by singing and dancing performances.
