Police nabs 19 illegal immigrants

KUANTAN: Police detained 19 illegal immigrants from Bangladesh in a raid at a flower farm near Kampung Raja, Cameron Highlands, on Wednesday morning.

Cameron Highlands acting police chief ASP Hasadid A Hamid said during the 5am raid, all the immigrants, aged between 20 and 40, were sleeping.

“They are believed to have been working illegally in the highlands and did not possess valid travel documents. Some admitted that they entered the district with the help of human trafficking syndicates.

“They, then offered to work in the farms with monthly income of between RM300 and RM500,” he said when contacted.

He said all the immigrants were taken to the Cameron Highlands police station for further investigation. - Bernama
