MALACCA: SK Sacred Heart Convent will be celebrating its 110th anniversary with a fund raising and reunion dinner.
Themed ‘A Journey of Purpose, Truth and Love’, the event anticipates its fund raising drive to hit RM100,000 mark with some 1,000 guests expected to attend the dinner on today at Pay Fong Middle School, here.
School’s alumni president Belinda Ong said the public donation and support from ex-students would help to shape conducive environment of the school that is proud of its rich history that back to colonisation period.
“Structural defects of the school which have been unattended for some time will now rectified and other facilities will also be improved to provide better learning environment from its pupils,” she said during a press conference at the Sacred Heart Convent here in Banda Hilir.
The school was set up by the Catholic sisters who came from Italy and Macau for the purpose of educating the poor especially the children of the Portuguese fishermen, at the early days of its debut.
Belinda said the school will continue to its past glory of providing quality education for the benefit of the locals to excel in their academic achievement.
SK Sacred Heart Convent is one of Malacca’s oldest schools that has crossed the centenary milestone and have produced number of successful Malaysians.
Belinda also encourages the ex-students of the school to show their full support by donating generously and participate in this year’s anniversary celebration.
The fund raising dinner will be held at the Pay Fong High School Hall, Malacca on May 9 at 7pm.
