KUALA TERENGGANU: An unemployed man was nabbed while trying to steal a Proton Iswara Aeroback that belonged to an imam of a mosque at Kampung Bukit Rakit, here recently.

Kuala Terengganu district police chief, ACP Idris Abdul Rafar said in the 6am incident, the mosque committee members saw two men acting in a suspicious manner near the imam’s car and contacted the police.

He said, their attempt to steal the vehicle was not easy as the engine could not start since the car had been stranded at the mosque compound for almost a year.

Following the report, police rushed to the scene and nabbed a 31-year-old man, while his accomplice managed to escape.

“Investigations revealed that both suspects came to the mosque in a car with fake registration number and reported stolen in Kelantan,” he said adding that various tools used for stealing were found in the car of the suspects, including car keys, a car battery and screw drivers. - Bernama
