FANS of award-winning Malaysian actress and singer Maya Karin were enthralled by her presence as she performed at The Federal Kuala Lumpur’s Secretaries’ Week luncheon.
The Pontianak Harum Sundal Malam star charmed and amused her fans for about an hour with several of her hit songs such as Erti Cinta, Tersenyum and Teka-Teki.
“I’m honoured to have been given this opportunity to perform at this year’s secretaries’ week. Although I couldn’t do much today as I was given a very short slot, I’m happy with the racial diversity that were present as it reminds me of the unity we share,” Maya said.
The singer added it was great for her as an artiste to realise that she is known by a majority of Malaysians since joining the entertainment industry 12 years ago.
“What’s most important is that the crowd enjoyed themselves,” said the 35-year-old environmental ambassador.
Maya has won numerous awards such as the Best Actress Award in the Asia Pacific Film, Malaysia Film Festival and Anugerah Oskar Malaysia in 2008, Most Popular Actress (Film) Award at the Anugerah Bintang Popular Berita Harian 2008, Best Actress Award at Malaysia Screen Award and Malaysia Film Festival in 2012 and again her third Most Popular Actress (Film) Award at the Anugerah Bintang Popular Berita Harian (Popular Star Awards).
During the two-hour luncheon, guests were treated to a scrumptious international buffet spread that included items such as Chicken Terrene with Cranberry Sauce, Prawn Salad with Mixed Vegetable, Salmon Fillet Glazed with Honey Sesame, Fresh Tiger Prawn cooked in Aromatic Butter and Pasta with Creamy Sauce.
To end things on a sweet note, there was a tempting array of desserts, including tiramisu, black forest cake, almond cheese cake, cream caramel chocolate pudding with vanilla sauce, assorted ice-cream and tropical sliced fruits.
Federal Hotels International Group marketing, sales and business development and operations director Ooi Lee Ping said it was important to pay tribute to secretaries and appreciate their services by treating them to a well-deserved luncheon and great entertainment.
“In every team, there’s always someone who holds a special position be it a personal assistant, a secretary, an administrative assistant or a coordinator who makes sure that everything runs smoothly,” said Ooi, adding that they were the unsung heroes and the backbone of any organisation, making them the pulse of the office.
At the event, members of the audience also walked away with attractive lucky draw prizes such as iPad Mini 3, Samsung Galaxy Tab 4, four-day, three-night stay at The Grace Hotel Sydney, three-day, two-night stay at The Federal Kuala Lumpur and three-day, two-night stay at Hotel Capitol Kuala Lumpur.
