Annual run back to raise funds for charities

KUCHING: Get fit and healthy with The Spring’s Live Active Run 2015 because it is back and bigger than ever on June 14.

The annual event will once again flag off at The Spring Shopping Mall’s premier carpark. The run is to raise funds for three charitable organisations – Kuching Autistic Association (KAA), Special Olympics Sarawak and Persatuan Dialisis Cahaya Kuching – while promoting a healthy lifestyle among the community.

Four different categories for the runners to enroll include 1km Kids Dash (boys & girls), 5km Fun Run (men & women), 10km (men & women) and 21km (men & women).

Over RM30,000 worth of prizes are up for grabs, including RM3,000 first place for both men’s and women’s half marathon champions.

In collaboration with The Spring this time, Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia will be the category sponsor for the 21km (men & women) whereas the 10km (men & women) category sponsor is Phoenix Gym. Borneo Bodybuilding Supplements (BBS) will sponsor the 5km Fun Run. For the first time, Revive Isotonic will be providing participants with electrolyte hydration at each water station.

Together with The TEEM Event & Exhibition Management, The Spring’s Live Active Run will introduce a new category – 10km Corporate Run – also sponsored by Mitsubishi Motors. It is open exclusively to all local registered companies, allowing them to promote health, wellness and fitness as well as bringing out the competitive spirit in their staff while having fun and boosting company morale.

Also creating a buzz among the youth are radio announcers Addy and Kiyoshi from MY FM and Hitz FM who will be the official radios for the run.

The organisers will sponsor 69-year-old marathon runner James Ong, who is determined to complete the 21km run under three hours this year. Ong is currently training by walking 7km daily, running with the City Jogger’s Club and participating in every run available.

Another activity to look forward to is the Photo Booth sponsored by Canon. All runners are encouraged to capture their moment of glory for completing the run and walk with a personal copy of Canon’s waterproof 4R print.

The deadline for registration with normal rate for all categories, except 10km Corporate Run, has been extended until May 10. For details, please visit or call 082-238 111.
