THE Federal Government has allocated RM2.56mil to upgrade a drainage system to irrigate 469ha of padi fields in Kubang Semang in Seberang Prai, Penang.

Deputy Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry Minister Datuk Tajuddin Abdul Rah-man said the project under the National Key Economic Area (NKEA) would replace the irrigation canals made from soil to concrete ones to enable water to be channelled properly into the fields.
