INFINEON Technologies (Kulim) Sdn Bhd celebrated its 10th anniversary in grand fashion.
Themed ‘A Decade Of Growth’, the event featured various stage shows including a sand art performance by Bernice Wong of Amazing Magic Studios.
Among the distinguished guests were Kedah Industry and Investment chairman and Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumer Affairs chairman Datuk Dr Ku Abd Rahman Ku Ismail, Malaysia Investment Development Authority (MIDA) chief executive officer Datuk Azman Mahmud and Infineon chief executive officer Dr Ploss Reinhard.
The company's president and managing director Datuk Tan Soo Hee said Infineon had gone a long way in achieving its success today.
“It has been 10 years since we started, and until today, we still managed to retain 42% of our startup people.
“I thank the government, staff and suppliers for their support to ensure our continued growth,” he said in his speech.
The company also organised a ‘Family Day’ for employees and their family members at the company’s car park during the recent event.
In 2004, Infineon Technologies' expansion in Kulim Hi-Tech Park was announced, followed by the ground-breaking ceremony a year later in 2005.
The following year, Infineon Technologies (Kulim) Sdn Bhd was officially opened.
Since then, the company has been growing and also receiving numerous excellence awards.
Infineon Technologies also organised several corporate social responsibility programmes such as funds for the survivors of Typhoon Haiyan in Philippines, the IT Educational Workshops for teachers and funds for various individuals and organisations.
With a 1,800-strong workforce today, the company, which operates on a 26ha of land, has the capacity to produce 120,000 eight-inch wafers each month.
With a cumulative investment of RM4bil, the facility also specialises in power and logic chips in industrial and automotive sectors.
