HERITAGE enthusiasts can take part in the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) Heritage Green Walk 2015 in George Town on May 31.
The walk, sponsored by OCBC Bank (Malaysia) Berhad, will also see funds raised for 10 charitable organisations.
Event organising chairman Datuk Dr Ooi Eng Hock said the three-hour walk, starting at 7am, would also promote a healthy lifestyle while raising awareness of Penang’s heritage.
“Heritage lovers can enjoy a 5km morning walk in George Town.
“The meeting point will be at the OCBC Penang Premier Banking Centre in Beach Street.
“The 15 places walkers will pass include the Pinang Peranakan Mansion, Mahamariamman Temple, Kapitan Keling Mosque, Cathedral of the Assumption and the Queen Victoria Memorial Clock Tower at the Esplanade.
“We expect to raise more than RM10,000 for each of the 10 charitable organisations,” Dr Ooi said during a press conference at the E&O Hotel.
Each participant will receive a card and need to get five stamps from selected heritage sites in order to claim their goodie bags at the finish line.
Also present at the press conference was state Youth and Sports, Women, Family and Community Development Chong Eng.
Registration forms for the walk are available at the FMM main office at 2767, Mk 1, Lebuh Tenggiri 2, Bandar Seberang Jaya.
Those interested can also get the forms from the FMM Penang Island office at D’Piazza Mall in Bayan Baru; Delta Extra at Gembira Parade, Lorong Delima; and Delta Burmah at 203, Jalan Burmah.

The registration fee is RM20 per person.
The walk is open to the public from the age of 13 and above.
Each participant will receive a Heritage Walk T-shirt which has to be worn during the walk and a lucky draw number.
Closing date for registration is May 10 or upon reaching a target of 2,000 participants.
