Those who want to look good while ensuring the safety of their eyes should consider Horien Eye Secret contact lens.

Using patented technology, the contact lens promises wearers a safe and comfortable experience and addresses common problems faced by users such as dry eyes, blurriness and sensitivity.

The range of clear and colour lenses is offered by Horien Optic (M) Sdn Bhd, a joint venture between Action Eyewear (M) Sdn Bhd and Taiwan’s Ginko International Group. National Sports Institute of Malaysia research, education and innovation director Dr Vellapandian Ponnusamy launched the product range at 1Utama Shopping Centre, Bandar Utama.

He was representing Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Datuk M. Saravanan

Saravanan, in his speech, said while contact lenses had gained popularity in recent years because of convenience and aesthetic values, many users overlooked the safety aspects.

“It is of paramount importance that users buy from approved optometrists instead of just any outlet or even the Internet.

“Fake and low quality contact lens will have a host of adverse effects,” said Saravanan.

Horien ambassador Yumi Wong of local productions Mokissu and Ah Beng: Impossible fame was also present at the launch.

She wore Horien grey-coloured contact lenses at the event and shared her personal experience.

“During long hours of filming, my eyes get tired and become dry.

“I was initially apprehensive of wearing coloured contact lenses as I was worried the colour might not suit me but after trying it I was pleased with the outcome,” she said.

Local dance group Elecoldxhot showed off some nifty moves at the launch.

A five-day roadshow held in conjunction with the launch allowed shoppers to try the products.

Action Eyewear Group chairman Steven Ng Choon Kheang highlighted that the company manufactures its own products while many other players in the industry sell products manufactured by a third party.

“This allows us to closely monitor the process from A to Z, from researching and manufacturing to retailing, to present the best and safest products to our users,” he said.

Horien and its sister brand Hyron have become the No 1 best-selling contact lens in China, taking up 38% of market share.

He added that Malaysia would be the launch pad to propel the products to other countries under the Asean Free Trade Area (AFTA) initiatives.

Horien Eye Secret sets itself apart from the rest with its unique formula of 38% water content, compared to 55% in most contact lenses in the market.

The low percentage of water means that the lenses do not need to draw as much moisture from its surroundings, with less likelihood of the eyes drying up.

The company offers a range of optical products in addition to contact lenses.

It is also the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) for many eye wear products in Japan, Europe and the US.
