International students to hold weekend festival

MIRI: Students from 45 countries and teaching staffs from 15 countries attached to Curtin University Sarawak campus here will this Saturday turn the campus into a venue of international festival extravaganza.

The university will be staging its International Fest 2015 this weekend that will see the campus showcasing its rich and diversed arrays of culture, food, costumes and music and dances.

Organised by the Student Council and International Student Association of Curtin Sarawak, the annual event is meant to reflect the global composition of the university which is the biggest foreign university campus on Borneo.

Organising chairman Haya Seddik said the event is opened to the public.

“The event will showcase the unique blend of culture and traditions found in this campus that have students from 45 countries and staffs from 16 countries.

“There will be cultural performances, fashion shows, costume displays and dances and music and food from all the countries being on show for all to enjoy.

“The public are also invited to come. We want to share our friendship with the community.

“It will be a day of great fun for all,” she said.

The event will be from 11am until 10pm.
