WINGS of KKB: Selangor Birds Race 2015 in Kuala Kubu Baru (KKB), one of the events listed in Visit Selangor Year 2015 and Malaysia Year of Festivals 2015, will take place from April 24 to 26.
The popular bird watching event and race has five categories - schoolchildren, higher education institutions, open and professional photography and Explorace.
Participants need to complete a total of 10 checkpoints starting at KKB town and ending in Genting Highlands and there are attractive prizes for winners including an Omicron binocular and a Canon DSLR 1200D camera as well as hotel stays.
Hulu Selangor District Council (MDHS) secretary Azman Dahlan said the race aims to promote bird watching.
“Wings of KKB has placed KKB on the map as an area rich in history, heritage, flora and fauna.
“Resorts World Genting is the main sponsor with Genting Highlands being one of the other main locations,” said Azman said during the launch, recently.
Among the species that bird watchers will discover along the route are Great Hornbill, Rhinoceros Hornbill, Fire-tufted Barbet and Red-headed Trogon in the highlands.
Birds like Oriental Pied Hornbill can be found in KKB, Black Crested Bulbul in Taman Milenium, Little Cuckoo Dove in Hulu Tamu Hotsprings and Whiskered Treeswift at the Sungai Kedondong forest.
