RM1.2mil federal funds for new halls in six schools

THE Federal Government has allocated RM1.2mil to build halls in six more schools in the Permatang Pauh parliamentary constituency in Penang.

The halls, costing RM200,000 each, will be built in SMK Pauh Jaya, SK Tok Kandu, SK Seberang Jaya 2, SK Seri Penanti, SK Mengkuang and SK Indera Muda.

Deputy Prime Minister and Education Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Mohd Yassin handed over the plans for the halls to representatives of the six schools during the opening ceremony of a new hall at SMK Sama Gagah in Permatang Pauh yesterday.

The building was completed earlier this month.

Also present were SMK Sama Gagah principal Rahmah Mat Saman, Deputy Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun who is also Penang MCA chief, state Umno chief Datuk Zainal Abidin Osman, state Gerakan chief Teng Chang Yeow, state MIC chief M. Karuppanan and Permatang Pauh Umno chief Datuk Mohd Zaidi Mohd Said.

The Sama Gagah Federal Village Security and Development Committee (JKKKP) later handed out food hampers to 130 needy folk from the constituency at the event.
