They were 15 when Let It Be, the last Beatles’ hit was recorded before the iconic band’s break up in 1970.
Now at 60, former students of the Malacca High School (1968 -72/74) are organising their biggest reunion yet to reminisce the good old days.
The old boys who are also mostly ex-pupils of the Banda Hilir English School (1962-1967) will hold the bash, themed ‘LET IT BE @ S!XTY’ at the Rotunda, Malacca Club, Jalan Kampung, off Jalan Tanjung Kling in Malacca.
In addition to great food and fellowship, there will be music of the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s performed by The Melodians, one of Malacca’s most popular bands.
This year’s bash would be the fourth held by the group since they hit half a century in 2005.
The second, themed ‘5555’ was held in 2010 to mark the year of birth in 1955 and their official retirement age of 55.
Two years ago, the ‘55+3’ was held to commemorate their 58th birthdays.
Organising committee spokesman Larry Yong said about 100 old boys and their spouses were expected to attend the ‘LET IT BE @ S!XTY’ gathering.
“Two other pre-reunion events have also been planned to be held a day earlier on April 24. The golfers in the group would tee off at the Air Keroh Country Club at 1pm.
There would also be a gathering at the Seafarer Restaurant, 1516, Batang Tiga, Tanjung Kling at 7pm.
