KUCHING: The Sarawak Chief Minister’s ICT Media Awards competition is offering increased prize money this year with a total of RM16,000 up for grabs.
The competition, organised by Sarawak Information Systems Sdn Bhd (Sains) and the Chief Minister’s Office, is now open for entries in two categories – print and broadcast media.
Entries can be in English, Bahasa Malaysia or Chinese and must be published or broadcast between January and December last year.
They must be in the form of features, news articles or documentaries on ICT-related subject published in local newspapers or broadcast over local radio or television in Sarawak by a licensed media organisation.
The top three print articles in each language will receive cash prizes of RM2,000, RM1,000 and RM500 and certificates. In the broadcast category, cash prizes of RM3,000, RM1,500 and RM1,000 along with certificates are on offer for the three best pieces aired over radio or television.
The awards aim to encourage journalists to address ICT-related topics and promote awareness and usage of ICT for socio-economic development in Sarawak.
Entries will be evaluated based on journalistic quality, communication impact and objectivity. Judges will comprise representatives from Sains, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas), ICT Unit, Angkatan Zaman Mansang (Azam) and Information Department.
