Remote-control drones to be used to monitor illegal sandmining activities


Participants in the 100Plus Outrunner races Rage Agaisnt the Machine 6km Fun Run had to escape from airborne drones that would capture their barcodes, resulting in one life lost. They had to make it to the finish line with at least one of their three lives intact.

THE state has plans to use remote-control drones to monitor sandmining activities in its bid to curb illegal activities.

Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir (BN-Pangkor) said the state was currently contemplating the idea to monitor the movement of lorries carrying sand to control illegal sandmining activities, which has cost the state a loss in revenue of between RM10mil and RM20mil.
