ALTHOUGH hawker stalls and certain food shops are exempted from the Goods and Services Tax (GST), that does not mean that prices of food and drinks will not increase.

Those interviewed by MetroPerak said the food and drinks may not be subjected to GST, but the ingredients and other costs including transportation and fuel are taxable.
