SOME 200 banana farmers in Balik Pulau, Penang, are expecting a drastic drop in their income as the ‘Moko’ disease has been destroying banana plantations in the district since November last year.

Pulau Betong assemblyman Muhamad Farid Saad said the disease, which was caused by a bacteria known as ‘Raistonia Solanacearum’, had so far affected 153ha of the total 336ha of banana plantations.
