iM4U, Malaysia’s youth volunteerism community, ended its nationwide “Reach Out Convention and Celebration 2015” tour in Kuala Lumpur recently with over 3,000 youths gathered under one roof to celebrate the power of volunteerism.

Officiated by iM4U mentor and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Abdul Wahid Omar, this was the biggest youth event tour of the year with a series of interactive talk sessions by local and international inspirational speakers aimed at encouraging and nurturing volunteerism amongst Malaysians.

Recognising the youth as agents of change, iM4U’s event gave Malaysia’s next generation the chance to network, share experiences and become inspired by the diverse panel of speakers which spearheaded their own respective social causes.

“As the building blocks of the nation, Malaysian youth are leading an important change in our society. Through volunteerism, youth can play a positive role in making a real difference for people in their community,” said Abdul Wahid.

Among the other panel of speakers at the event were Ivy League advisor, founder and chief executive officer Dr Wasif Syed; prominent Malaysian fashion designer Datuk Zang Toi, award-winning blogger and Nametag TV producer Scott Ginsberg, motivational speaker and certified strategic interventionist Yahya Bakkar, British author and entrepreneur Mike Southon, as well as entrepreneur Prakash Somosundram.

Dr Wasif shared his thought leadership strategies focusing on youth empowerment through innovative platforms.

“Each person, if given the chance to develop their leadership skills, can be successful. Activities such as volunteerism allow the individual to grow and optimise their key strengths, which can empower them and the people around them,” he said.

iM4U chief operating officer Rudy Malik said, “Youth volunteerism is about giving them the soapbox to voice out their concerns, providing a platform to take positive action and ultimately, to encourage them to be the change within their communities. No matter how big or small the impact, every little deed counts.”

Adding to the celebrations were local talents Bunkface, Paperplane Pursuit, Pop Shuvit, Nastia, Froya, DJ Fuzz, Iwere, Mark Adam, Waris, Jakeman, Karmal and Lawa Nie Gang.

Also present to entertain the crowd were YouTube sensations Just Kidding Films, Wong Fu Productions, Dan Matthews (DANakaDAN), Jun Sung Ahn, Dominic ‘D-Trix’ Sandoval and JRodTwins.

The Reach Out Convention and Celebration 2015 kicked off on Jan 31 at Politeknik Seberang Perai, Penang before going to Universiti Teknologi Mara, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah; Politeknik Kuching, Kuching, Sarawak; Universiti Malaysia Terengganu and Politeknik Ibrahim Sultan, Johor Baru.
