THE 7th Putrajaya International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta kicks off on Thursday.
The annual festival, jointly organised by AKA Balloons Sdn Bhd and Putrajaya Corporation (PPj), will see more than 20 colourful balloons take to the skies in Precinct 2 until March 15.
Other than Malaysia, the balloonists hail from 11 countries including the Philippines, South Korea, United States, Australia and Belgium.
The Vincent Van Gogh balloon, which bears the likeness of the famous Dutch artist; along with other quirky designs such as a penguin-shaped one wearing Hawaiian clothes, Humpty Dumpty and the Green Monster are some of the balloons to look out for.
Past fiestas have featured the popular Darth Vader and Doraemon balloons.
Event director and AKA Balloons Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Nur Izzati Khairudin said the fiesta was a homegrown product, which contributed to the country’s aim of becoming a major tourist destination.
“We are excited to once again present a world-class line-up of talented international balloonists and many exciting on-ground activities,” she added.
The event is expected to attract a 300,000-strong crowd, with loads of activities for the whole family.
