Representatives from the Say No To Dash (Damansara) Group aired their objections on the project to the Selangor Town and Country Planning department today.

The hearing was held in response to their written objection submission of the Selangor Structural Plan 2035 Exploratory Report that included the Damansara - Shah Alam Highway (Dash) and five other highways.

Their 15-minute window of opportunity saw three members of the group presenting their case, urging the state government to look into other alternatives for the highway.

They submitted 728 forms from residents in Petaling Jaya specifically from Damansara Perdana, Mutiara Damansara and Kota Damansara.

Among the reasons for objections were lack of details in the structural plan, failure to meet conditions of the approval including a flawed Environmental Assessment report as well as the Traffic Impact Assessment Report, and danger to residents due to the proximity of the highway.

During a press conference held after their presentation, the group reiterated their stand on the alignment that passes through their densely populated residential area, Damansara Perdana.

"We would like to stress that we are not opposed to the entire project, only the parcel running through Damansara Perdana," said Alvin Chin.

Fellow representative Michelle Wong echoed his sentiment and said the state should advocate good planning that was sustainable and liveable for its people.

"The Selangor government should have made a stand on the issue after the concession agreement for Dash expired in December 2014.

"Now, the Federal government announced that an extension has been given and it was backdated to the expiry as well," she added.

The group also submitted another application under the Freedom of Information (FOI) with regards to details of Dash's conditional approval in April 2012 and other approvals since then.
