Explore the great outdoors with StarMetro’s new column

Ready to rumble: The Metro Adventure Club team (from left to right) Christina Low, Jarod Lim, Vincent Tan and Niklas Albakri.

IT WOULD be difficult to overstate the natural attractions of Malaysia.

One of our greatest natural heritage sites is Taman Negara, Pahang, which at 130 million years old, is believed to be one of the oldest tropical rainforests.

But how many of us have actually been to this national park to appreciate its 10,000 species of plants, 300 species of mammals, 300 species of fish and 250 species of birds?

Our valleys, rivers, mountains and forests are ripe for the avid explorer to discover, be it through camping, trekking, off road driving, mountain biking and more.

Having said that, most city-folk rarely enter our country’s forests, preferring to sip lattes and teh tarik indoors in one of our ever expanding malls.

As such, StarMetro is starting a new column to inspire our readers to venture into the great outdoors — Metro Adventure Club (Mac).

The column, starting on March 11 will be written by a team of specialists with vast know-ledge in several different types of activities.

You can expect to read insightful ‘how to’ stories, exciting outdoor events and even personality pieces on some our country’s most prominent outdoorsmen.

To up the excitement, StarMetro has paired up with Universal Fitness and Leisure Sdn Bhd to bring special deals on outdoor equipment from some of the best brands around.

For a start, 100 Coleman Camper’s Tools are available for redemption free of charge at UFL’s outlet in Bangsar.

So if you are keen to get out of your comfort zone and explore this beautiful country, be sure to pick up a copy of StarMetro next Wednesday.
