PERAK Tourism has launched a travel portal featuring various tourist destinations in the state captured in a 360-degree panoramic view.
With this immersive experience at the “Perak Travel in 360” portal, visitors can enjoy a virtual tour of Perak’s many attractions, which is the next best thing to being there.
State Health, Tourism and Culture Committee chairman Datuk Nolee Ashilin Mohd Radzi said to boost tourism efforts, it is necessary to create a platform that combines both governmental initiative and active participation from the business community.
“Thus, the portal also features categories such as Accommodation for hotels and resorts in Perak and Food and Lifestyle for the many famous restaurants and cafes.
“With many world-class tourist attractions, Perak is capable of drawing both domestic and foreign tourists with plenty of activities to make their visit a memorable one,” she said during the launch of the portal at the state level Malaysia Year of Festivals 2015 held at Excelsior Hotel, Ipoh recently.
Nolee Ashilin also said the idea to include local businesses in a travel portal was initiated by the state government.
“This bridges the relationship between industry players and the state in our efforts to attract more visitors to Perak,” she said.
Panomatics Malaysia project director Norman Derick, who is the technology partner spearheading the project, said this is the first statewide 360-degree panorama virtual tour ever created in Malaysia.
“We are confident that it will help boost tourist arrivals in Perak.
“Our future plan for the portal is to include more places of interest as well as new categories, such as homestays, events and health tourism,” he said.
On a related matter, Nolee Ashilin said this year is going to be an exciting one for Perak with the first Animation Theme Park in Asia slated to open in Meru Raya end of the year.
“We have also set our eyes on the development of Taiping town, which includes a plan to launch the Heritage Trail Taiping soon with the help of the Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA).
“In Ipoh, the popular Gerbang Malam will be upgraded as well to cater to the growing crowd visiting the place.
“With the frequent Electric Train Service (ETS) and the upgrading of the Sultan Azlan Shah airport, it is undeniable that this theme park and many other new developments throughout the state this year will serve as a catalyst for our tourism industry,” she said.
Nolee Ashilin later handed over souvenirs and Perak tourism calendars to tour operators and tourism associations. She then took part in a yee sang tossing session with project partners and other guests of honour.
