Residents get to feast and mingle at CNY open houses

A LARGE crowd turned up at the Chinese New Year open house hosted by the Bukit Gelugor MCA division and the Taman Tun Sardon Rukun Tetangga in Penang.

Besides being treated to an array of food, the guests and residents in the area were also entertained by singers at the Taman Tun Sardon community hall on Sunday.

Bukit Gelugor MCA chairman Datuk Koay Kar Huah also gave out 150 ang pows to senior citizens and the physically challenged during the celebration.

On Friday, Jawi assemblyman Soon Lip Chee hosted his CNY open house at the Perkampungan Jawi basketball court near Nibong Tebal, which was attended by guests and villagers from the surrounding areas.

They were treated to a buffet dinner and the entertainment included Chinese traditional dances, lion dance, songs and a mask changing show.

Guests included Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng and state executive councillors Chow Kon Yeow and Law Heng Kiang.

Soon gave away ang pows to 400 recipients while Lim pledged to repair the JKKK hall in Perkampungan Jawi which was infested with termites.
