SPORTS Toto Malaysia Sdn Bhd brought cheer to some 2,500 old folk and the poor in Kuala Lumpur by giving them essential goods and red packets to celebrate Chinese New Year.

Each of them received a goodie bag and RM20 ang pow during the annual Chinese New Year Ang Pow Donation Campaign 2015 held at the Stadium Badminton Kuala Lumpur recently.

Sports Toto Malaysia Sdn Bhd executive director Vincent Seow said since the campaign started in 1989, the company had contributed about RM16mil worth of ang pow and hampers to more than 300,000 senior citizens in the country.

“The CNY Ang Pow donation campaign is Sports Toto’s biggest corporate social responsibility project of the year. It has been held for the past 26 years.

“In the spirit of giving back to society, we find the campaign a very effective way to help the needy senior citizens.

“We want them to benefit from this nationwide campaign, which covers 45 cities and towns and involves at least 16,000 senior citizens in the peninsula Malaysia and in Sabah and Sarawak,” he said.

Also present during the event were Berjaya Sports Toto Bhd chief executive officer Datuk Robin Tan and Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Chua Tee Yong.
