MALACCA: As part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative to, a team of 15 staff of Philea Resort and Spa, Ayer Keroh visited Rumah Sejahtera old folks home in Machap Baru.
The staff all dressed up in shades of red and yellow met and spent time with the elderly.
To break the ice, 20 residents of the home were entertained by the resort staff with some fun-filled dances and sing-along to Chinese New Year.
The festive atmosphere continued with a traditional yee sang tossing ceremony to usher in good health, good luck and prosperity, while shouting all the auspicious wishes.
The colourful yee sang platter was prepared by Chef of the resort using shredded apple, carrot, pear, salads and abalone and topped with homemade sauce and other condiments.
After the meal, goodie bags comprising daily necessities including toiletries, instant oats cereal, soya, coffee, wholemeal biscuits and mandarin oranges as well as ang pow were presented to the elderly.
Philea Resort and Spa’s assistant marketing communication manager Tee Mei Fong said efforts to reach out to the community during the festive season was aimed to share the happiness and joy with the less fortunates.
“This is the third year we are celebrating Chinese New Year with them and it has been a truly an unforgettable experience for all of us. We are grateful to be able to do our part for the elderly and also spread some festive cheers so that they know they are not alone,” she said.
