IVORY Properties Group Berhad hopes to raise RM25,000 from the Ivory CNY Charity Concert this Sunday at Penang Times Square.
Its executive director and Ivorycares president Datuk Ooi Chin Loo said their initial target was RM15,000, but with overwhelming response, they could breach the RM20,000 mark.
Chin Loo told a press conference at Ivory Tower that the artistes would be collecting donations from the crowd after their performances.
“The money will be used to help rebuild homes for the east coast flood victims.”
The concert will start at 8pm at the mall’s Chin Ho Plaza.
It is organised by Ivory Properties Group Berhad and supported by Penang Press Club and Persatuan Wartawan dan Jurugambar Media Cina Pulau Pinang, with The Star as the media partner.
The main draw card is Worldwide Platinum Records’ North American chart toppers Ovaload and Cash Band.
Former 988 FM radio station DJ Luke Loke will surely bring the house down with tracks from his new Chinese New Year album ‘Feat-ting Room’.
He will be joined by fellow Worldwide Platinum Records artistes Mickey, Satrina, Michelle and Max Ku. The album will be up for sale during the concert.
Kenya’s Sarakasi dancers-cum- acrobats will perform elaborate tribal and modern dances as well as gymnastic feats while Men On Heels and GoGoGirls will dance to pop tunes and funky beats.
Astro Classic Golden Melody Singing Competition 2008 first runner-up Jeffrey Ooi will be emceeing the charity event alongside another master of ceremony Corrylincoln from Penang Times Square.
“More than 3,500 tickets have been redeemed. They are being snapped up like hot cakes,” said Chin Loo.
The public can redeem tickets by cutting out the event banner advertisement on the cover of StarMetro on Feb 14 and 21 and going to the Penang Times Square information counter, Star Northern Hub in Bayan Lepas, Kwong Wah Yit Poh Penang headquarters in Presgrave Street or its regional offices in Bayan Baru, Bukit Mertajam and Butterworth, or at Nanyang Siang Pau Penang office in Weld Quay.
Only two tickets can be redeemed for each original advertisement. The public can also donate RM100 for a VIP ticket.
