Free parking stickers for the disabled

People with disabilities who are registered with the Welfare Department are eligible to obtain free parking stickers from the Klang Municipal Council (MPK).

MPK Corporate Communication director Norfiza Mahfiz said the stickers were readily available at the department.

Besides filing up application forms, Norfiza said the applicants were required to produce their registration card from the Klang Welfare Department.

“Upon approval, we will provide them with the car stickers and a tag for them to hang in their vehicles so that other motorists are aware of their disability,” she said, adding that the sticker would entitle them to park at the designated parking bays without charges.

Norfiza advised those without the card to register themselves at the Welfare Department so that they would be entitled to free parking stickers.

She was commenting on the StarMetro’s report dated Feb 12 under the heading “Council tows away disabled senior citizen’s car.

It reported that a 65-year-old polio victim and his family were subjected to three hours of ordeal after his car that was parked at a bay for the disabled was towed by the Klang Municipal Council’s (MPK) Enforcement unit.
