Residents work together to decorate village for CNY

Festive decor: One of the many streets in the Machap Baru New Village that was beautifully decked with red lanterns.

MALACCA: The Chinese New Year festivity is strong and hyped-up at the Machap Baru New Village with its lighted red lanterns and trimmings around the streets in the village.

Despite the economic slowdown and looming uncertainty in view of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) implementation, the festivity and atmosphere is in full bloom as residents took their own initiatives to deck the streets in shades of red and pink.
