Ops Limau nabs 17 for gambling

SIBU: A total of 17 persons, including four women, were caught by the police for playing an illegal game of “See Kee Poi” during an operation code name “Ops Limau.”

Ops Limau is being carried out by the police nationwide one week before and one week after Chinese New Year to ensure a crime-free celebration.

In the operation at 12.10am on Wednesday at a shophouse at Jalan Bank, the police also seized from them RM7,070. Other items seized included furniture, plastic chairs and gambling chips.

Separately, the police had also arrested two persons for possessing dangerous weapons of “kwantau”, a Chinese sword, and a “samurai” sword.

The duo were arrested at un unumbered house in Jalan Hock Ming at 4.15pm on Tuesday.

They have been remanded for four days to facilitate police investigations.
