KUDAT: The Kudat branch office of the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry has issued compounds to 12 business premises owners for flouting the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011 and the Weights and Measures Act 1972.
The chief enforcement officer at the branch, Nurinah Endem, said they were among the 2,480 premises in the district that were inspected following the launch of the “Ops Catut” operation on Jan 15.
“The 12 premises were fined a total of RM1,500,” she said in a statement.
Nurinah said the penalty was imposed to educate the traders to adopt ethical practices and adhere to rules and regulations.
She also said that consumers should be aware of their rights and cooperate with the ministry by channelling complaints via the toll-free line 1-800-886-800 or the http://eaduan.kpdnkk.gov.my website.
Nurinah said consumers could also raise complaints in person at the branch office of the ministry. - Bernama
