THERE are plans for Perak Umno to fortify Barisan Nasional in the state and to better prepare the coalition for the 14th general election.
During a recent closed-door meeting, state Barisan Nasional chairman and state Umno chairman Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir said discussions were being held on various weaknesses the coalition could improve on.
“There are no main weaknesses here, but we are reviewing the quality of our services rendered to the people and how we can enhance them.
“We have also heard the presentations made by other component parties as they zero in on particular weaknesses faced by each party.
“This is so that we could all examine this and work together to ensure there is progress in rectifying them,” he told a press conference after chairing the meeting at the state Umno building with state component party chiefs.
When asked if the meeting sought to discuss the state MIC’s future plans as well, Dr Zambry reiterated that the meeting was held to discuss the coalition’s plans as a whole and it is not focused purely on MIC.
All state component party presidents, deputy presidents and vice-presidents were present during the meeting.
