One of the puppies to be put up for adoption by MDDB.

THREE puppies were thrown into the car porch of a Malay Muslim family in Balakong by some unscrupulous animal dumpers early this week.

Being animal lovers, the family took the puppies in, fed them and kept them for two days before calling canine welfare project Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better (MDDB) for help.

“Luckily for the puppies, they landed in the homes of some compassionate people.

“Otherwise the local council would have been called in to remove the puppies and all three would have ended up euthanised,’’ said MDDB adoption coordinator Christine Lai.

She added that the puppies have since been named Alpha, Gamma and Beta.

“Alpha, Gamma and Beta will be put up for adoption at our drive tomorrow which will be held at No 51 & 53, SS14/2D, Subang Jaya,’’ said Lai.

She said several other puppies and dogs would also be up for adoption at the drive which will be held from 11am to 6pm.

According to Lai, MDDB was also in dire need of funds to settle its escalating veterinary bills.

“We are rescuing every day and some of these cases are seriously injured dogs and puppies,’’ she said.

Those wanting to donate in cash and kind could drop of their contribution at the adoption drive.

MDDB merchandise and calendars would also be on sale at the adoption drive.
