Getting dirty today for a cleaner tomorrow

Working together: A group being led by Dr Kalithasan creating a small ‘island’ made of soil and stones from the riverbed to plant wetland plants.

ABOUT 135 volunteers got their feet wet and hands dirty when they got down to business to clean up the Sungai Way river and its surrounding banks on a sunny Saturday morning.

The project, which was largely a collaboration between Indah Water Konsortium (IWK) and non-governmental organisation Global Environment Centre (GEC), saw students and young adults working alongside residents from the Desa Mentari flats to pick rubbish from the shallow river.
