A burst sewage pipe is believed to have caused a part of a playground in Taman Kinrara Seksyen 4 to cave in.
Kinrara assemblyman Ng Sze Han said the ground had started to sink about a month ago.
“It is getting deeper each day and the residents are worried for their children’s safety,” he said during a site visit.
He added that Indah Water Konsortium (IWK) would check for underground leaks from the sewage pipe.
The sinkhole has been cordoned off with yellow tape.
IWK communications department senior manager Shahrul Nizam Sulaiman said the company would investigate immediately, but the process to get a camera for the underground view would take one week.
“The repair work will take about two weeks and we hope to finish it before Chinese New Year,” he said.
Shahrul said the sewage flow would be stopped temporarily but it would not affect the residents.
“I hope the nearby residents will be patient and extend their co-operation to IWK when the repair work is in progress,” he said.
Ng said the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) would repair the jogging tracks around the playground and clean up the drains in the neighbourhood.
“The jogging tracks have not been maintained well and there are cracks which are dangerous for joggers. The area is also hit by flash floods whenever it rains, so it is about time to clean up the drains,” he said.
He added that the clean-up work would start next month.
