SIBU: Residents in Rejang Park and its surrounding areas have been assured by Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) that their problems will be looked into.
A councillor assigned for the area, Chieng Jin Ek, said yesterday that during the meet-the-people session on Friday, the residents had voiced out that most of the complains were either ignored or not looked into urgently.
“From now on we will try to solve their problems as soon as we can. We will look into the smaller problems first. As the bigger ones need a larger funding, our engineers would have to carry out a thorough study first before solving them,” he said.
Chieng said the council would also keep the people posted, including what types of actions the council had taken.
He said during the Fridaymeeting, the residents highlighted many issues and problems.
“For example, the headmaster of SRK Perbandaran No. 4 wanted us to clean the clogged drains around the school. He had also requested rubbish bins and to repair the wooden walkway. He also pointed out the problems posed by abandoned cars outside the school,” he said.
Chieng said he, together with engineers and officers from the council’s public health section, had later visited the school compound to see what they could do.
